UTC Universal Time Coordinated

Vehicle tachograph units are operating in UTC time which is the same as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), the vehicle clock is set to a local time, therefore the time on the tacho unit may differ from the time displayed on the dash board. This must be taken into account when doing manual entries on the digital unit. In UK the UTC is the same as local time in the winter time and will be one hour out in the summer time. New versions of tachographs display UTC time when driver puts manual entry in, where older ones show local time. This may be confusing to inexperienced drivers and mistakes are likely to occur if no advice given
