If exempt from EU Driver’s Hours Regulations you may still be required to make a record of your activities under Domestic Regulations. If Domestic Regulations recording is required then you need to keep an up to date log book or you may choose to record your activities via tachograph. Please remember that ALL working activities must be recorded not just driving so manual entries may be required. Tacho needs to be in calibration and set for out of scope operationl.

It is advisable to check DVSA guide on Driver’s Hours to make sure your journey is classified as out of scope operation and seek professional advice as incorrect interpretation of the rules may lead to serious consequences for the driver and your company.

Common examples of out of scope driving are listed in DVSA guide but it is advisable to seek professional advice as incorrect interpretation of the rules can put your Operator’s Licence at risk or cost you a fine!
